Croma - Mangalore - MAK Mall

When I moved to Mangalore a couple of months ago, one of the first things I was warned about was just how insane the power situation could get during the monsoons. So, I picked up a couple of Belkin multi-plug strip surge protectors from Croma at MAK Mall. The Croma guys convinced me that not only were they the best, but they also came with a 1-year warranty. Now, I am incredibly glad I went with their recommendation. As warned, the monsoons arrived with unpredictable power cuts, insane voltage surges, lightning strikes, and exploding transformers. While my neighbours' gadgets were being fried, my Belkin strips kept my electronics perfectly safe – until one particularly vicious evening. The surge must have been so bad that it overpowered one of my Belkin strips. Fortunately, I only had two table lamps and a phone charger hooked up to it. Strangely, the lamps survived, but the phone charger didn’t, and neither did the Belkin. I’m still trying to figure out the science behind that one! Anyway, that’s when I remembered the 1-year warranty. I fished out the receipt (no, I am not Gen Z, so I actually saved the paper!) and dropped into Croma with the kaput Belkin and the warranty card. I must confess my expectations were low. Based on past experiences elsewhere, getting a company to honour a warranty is a 50-50 shot at best, and the chances they’ll blame the customer are usually 9:1. I could not have been more wrong. After I explained the issue, the Croma staff immediately put me in touch with a genuinely awesome Customer Care representative named Mr. Pramod A. He took just a few minutes to verify my genuine claim, initiated a complete replacement as per the warranty, and that was it. I was back home shortly with a brand new Belkin. All in all, it was a very refreshing customer experience. Because it is rare to see a store actually back up its sales pitch with real, hassle-free action. If you are in Mangalore and need electronics, I highly recommend Croma at MAK Mall. And ask for Pramod if you run into any issues – the man is a total professional.
